Snail Mail

June 2017 Outgoing Snail Mail

Hey everyone, how’s it going? Hope you’re all doing well. I’m back today with another snail mail post and this week, it is time to take a look at my outgoing mail from the month of June.

Now, I don’t have too much outgoing mail because I sent a few pieces out at the start of the month and then let things slide a bit. Then, as the month neared a close I held back from sending things out because I knew I’d be sending a lot of things out this month. Nevertheless, I do have a few nice things to show you from last month so here it goes!

First up, a lot of notecards.

My parents went to Edinburgh at the end of April and they brought me back this lovely set of notecards that they bought in one of the museum shops. I love the paintings on them and also, the envelopes for the notecards aren’t white – they’re a slight grey tone. I love that they’re not white! You know, sometimes, you just get a little bored of white envelopes!

Here’s the other notecard from the set:

I’m loving sending these out and I can think of a few pen pals who’ll appreciate how pretty these notecards are.

Keeping up with the notecard theme, I made more use of the gorgeous map cards I bought a while back:

Now, when it came to decorating these envelopes, I did something I don’t do to often – I kept them simple! I only used a single strip of washi tape on them which nicely matched the standard postal stamps for international letters!

I think the gold looks lovely against the cream and grey envelopes.

Okay, next up, I have some colouring book envelopes. These went off to Canada and Australia. These are envelopes I’ve already shown on my blog before in one of my many posts on making envelopes from colouring book pages:

And finally, I have this envelope that I sent off to New Zealand. This is one of the envelopes that I made/decorated using an issue of World Heritage magazine. It’s simply an image cut out from the magazine and paired with some purple washi tape as that’s what I had that looked alright with it!

Which is your favourite piece of mail? I have to say, my simple decorating of the envelopes is mine. Sometimes simple is best!

And as always, I’ll close the post with the stamp close-ups:

  1. I always find your posts very inspiring. The golden washi tape looks perfect on your envelopes to complement the postage stamps and how divine are those map cards? But, what a great idea to use colouring book pages to make envelopes. How ingenious! xx

    1. Well I love the images in colouring book pages but I have no patience for actually colouring – I’d rather play video games to relax – so I had to find some other use for them!

  2. That simple strip of washi tape is surprisingly effective; I think it helps that the envelopes aren’t bright white… and I am rather taken with the idea of making envelopes from colouring book pages (looks at selection of colouring books that rarely get used because there are just too many other things to do).

    1. I agree. I do think simplicity works better with cream and grey envelopes. There’s just something about a stark white envelope that needs more details to soften it.

  3. The World Heritage city-scape is very striking, though I think I agree that the cream envelopes with gold tape are the best. I really love the map cards that go with them.
I am interested to see how you make your own envelopes. I will browse through your related posts to see what you have about that.

    1. Simplicity definitely worked for those envelopes! A good thing because they are small envelopes!
I have a lot of posts about making and decorating envelopes on my blog so definitely check those out. 🙂
